The Evolution of the Internet
The Internet is the largest and most well known computer network, linking millions of computers all over the world. The internet furnishes a standard way of sending messages and information across virtually any type of computer platform and transmission media. While Internet has become a household word during the past decade, it has actually operated in one form or another much longer than that.
Arpanet was the predecessor of the internet. The world wide web, the collection of web pages availiable through the internet was proposed by Tim Berners Lee in 1989. It was originally only text-based content. The release of the graphical mosaic in 1993 led to graphical content. There is a wide variety of content availiable on web pages today. Internet 2 was created to develop and implement advanced internet applications and technologies.
